Arran for Kids

For a family holiday, Arran is the perfect choice. In many ways, the entire island is like one big adventure for kids.

In good weather, the clean, sandy beaches and rock pools are ideal for a family day out – you may even fancy hiring a boat. And there are plenty of other things to keep the kids amused – pony trekking, quad biking, castle visits, nature trails, seal watching… the list goes on. Even the ferry trip can be an adventure for kids. Pick up an ‘Arran Passport’ that lets children record the places they visit on the island.

Here are some suggestions for activities that will keep your little ones amused.

Picnic at Glenashdale Falls

Not far from Whiting Bay, you can climb to the top of the falls and enjoy a wonderful view while you tuck into your sandwiches.  Click here for further information.

Red squirrels at Brodick Castle

After your tour of the castle, you can explore the country park with its way-marked trails. Plan your visit for autumn and expect some magnificent woodland colours and keep an eye out for the red squirrels.  Click here for further information.

Quad biking at Balmichael Visitor Centre

Prepare for the thrill of racing through the mud on specially created trails. Children as young as 7 can take part – protective clothing and expert instruction are supplied.

Kayaking with the Arran Adventure Company
