Over the years I have spent day trips, weekends and week long stays on Arran. I am reluctant to share any info. as the secret is getting out! However no matter how busy the boat appears when everyone disembarks and all head off to their destinations the island continues to appear deserted.By far my pleasure on the island is exploring the hills and the recently established "Arran coastal Way" is fabulous. The walk is well sign posted and the tracks easy to follow. The web site is extremely helpful. Arran active beside the Brewery is great for walking gear if you are caught short, and staff are really helpful. The Ormidale pub,Brodick is great at night to soak up local atmosphere and quiz nights are a source of entertainment! Over the years I have stayed at many types of accommodation from hostel to hotel. I can thoroughly recommend the Lochranza Hostel . However the Auchrannie hotel is absolute luxury at a great price. Here there is something to suit everyone whether it is family, singles, couples. The rooms are gorgeous with a fantastic breakfast that sets you up until tea time. Following a day in the hills I look forward to the sauna , swim and a treat of a luxury foot massage at the Spa. The meals in the evening are delicious ,with an immense choice - I can recommend the lamb cooked to perfection- I find it difficult to match the quality on the mainland! The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and despite the size of the hotel there still is an intimate personal service. You could spend a day quite easily just enjoying the facilities at this hotel.Arran museum is great to visit and a good place for lunch - meringues fab! Yes I am the women who eats and walks her way round Arran at any given opportunity!
Go and enjoy!
