Many local artists work in distinct forms, inspired by the landscapes, colours and the feelings evoked. There are several excellent resident artists on Arran, all with differing styles. Some have turned professional as their talent and confidence has grown through what was initially perhaps a hobby. There is an art gallery in Whiting Bay which showcases local talent, and art influenced by the island.
Arran Open Studios is a great way to visit visual artists in their working environment and meet some of them, who might even be part of the Arran Art Trail which operates all year round – just look for the signs at roadsides. Commissions may be undertaken and some artists will have prints of their work for sale online.
