Distilleries and Breweries

In 1995 a new distillery opened on Arran, the birth place of the award winning Arran Single Malt whisky. The distillery has been developed into a tourist attraction and visitors can enjoy a tour of the distillery, followed by a relaxing dram of the award-winning Single Island Malt in the delightful tasting bar.

The Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland. The Arran Single Malt is distilled using the purest water supply in all of Scotland at Loch na Davie, high in the hills that overlook the village of Lochranza where the distillery is based, the location offers perfect water for whisky production, cleansed by granite and softened by peat as it comes down from the mountain above. The atmosphere of sea breezes and clear mountain air together with the warm flow of the Gulf Stream matures the Arran Malt to perfection in earth floored warehouses.

Set in the shadow of Brodick Castle with panoramic views of Brodick Bay and Goatfell, the high tech Arran microbrewery blends naturally with its stunning surroundings. The art of traditional brewing combined with a natural blend of the islands unique water and the finest ingredients result in a range of ales which, like Arran itself, offers something very special.

Arran Premium ales are pure - free of artificial additives and preservatives, produced with care and pride... naturally. Isle of Arran Dark ale offers a smooth drink of weight and substance, the Arran Blonde is a pale golden beer, clear and zesty, while Arran Ale combines a clean freshness with a significant presence.

The excellent Arran Brewery visitor centre and guided, walk through tour will give you the opportunity to see for yourself the way in which Arran Premium Ales are brewed, followed, of course, by the free complimentary tasting.
