Heather Lodge

Brodick Isle of Arran KA27 8AJ

In 2017 a loose cooperative of holistic practitioners came together, seeking a centre to further their work. Together they founded Heather Lodge. The group’s members live on Arran and work with visitors, locals, and regular clients, some with chronic medical conditions, often with the support of local charities — ArCaS and the Mary Davies Trust. Heather Lodge, set in the grounds of the historic Douglas Hotel, was originally a stable, but had been in use as a private dwelling for many years and has an attractive and secluded garden. The premises provide several comfortable therapy rooms and a healing ambience. We have grown considerably over the years and are now able to offer a wide range of massage, yoga, therapies, physical activities, and counselling services to name but a few of the options for clients. Please see our website for more information.

At Heather Lodge ‘holistic’ is taken to mean treatment of the whole person, including social and emotional factors, rather than just the symptoms of disease.

Quirky Island Fact

#20 - Arran has Scotland's First No Take Zone
The Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) is a local charity and was established in 1995 by local divers, Howard Wood and Don McNeish, who had noticed the depletion of species on the seabed. The No Take Zone at the north end of Lamlash, was eventually created, after much campaigning, in 2008, and COAST were instrumental in then establishing the Marine Protected Area (MPA) which covers the coast around the south of Arran.
